Rebecca Lock on Heathers, Mary Poppins, Avenue Q, Phantom & Martin Guerre
Updated: Sep 24, 2019
Rebecca Lock is one of my absolute favourite actors. She is currently stealing the show in Heathers at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End. A show she’s been with since its first London workshop in 2017, through its run at The Other Palace earlier this year before its transfer.
Among her credits are both the title role and Mrs Banks in Mary Poppins (not at the same time), Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q (at the same time), Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera and Bertrande in Martin Guerre.
In this episode we talked about how Heathers has been reworked in London over the last 18 months, how its devoted fans go to an incredible effort to dress up as their favourite characters, and how she picks her Steve every night (if you know, you know).
We also talked a lot about Mary Poppins - so if you're a fan of that show, you definitely want to listen to this.
Rebecca's first job as in 1996 in the original West End production of Martin Guerre. Things didn't quite go to plan with that production straight away. Here's what happened on the news when the show had its second opening night:
You can see Rebecca as Ms Fleming in Heathers until 3rd November 2018. The show continues at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until 24th November.
