Company's Jonathan Bailey

Updated: Sep 24, 2019

Jonathan Bailey is currently playing Jamie in the West End production of Company at the Gielgud Theatre.

The part, originally Amy, is one of five roles in the show that’s been gender-flipped. In this episode Jonny talks about how the show was modernised during the workshop process, the importance of queer roles existing without social commentary and how shy he went whilst working with Stephen Sondheim.

He also told me about the process in which Amy became Jamie and how he nearly ended up playing a different role in the show.

Jonny works closely with the LGBTQ+ charity, Albert Kennedy Trust. A gala performance of Company is taking place on Tuesday, February 12, in aid of the charity, to help tackle homelessness within the gay community.

Company is running at the Gielgud theatre until 30th March. Tickets are available on TodayTix.
